Corinth Canal and Nafplion Tour

Corinth Canal and Nafplion Tour: A Full Day of History, Myth and Seaside Charm

Corinth Canal and Nafplion Tour

A relaxed full day of about 8 to 9 hours, in a private Mercedes with your own English-speaking driver. The coast road takes you to the Corinth Canal, where you can walk onto the bridge and look straight down the narrow channel cut through the rock.

Next is Nafplion, the first capital of modern Greece and one of its prettiest towns. Above the old town stands Palamidi, the fortress the Venetians built in the early 1700s, where Theodoros Kolokotronis, hero of the Greek Revolution, was once held prisoner. In the harbour sits Bourtzi, the little “floating” castle on its islet, reached by a short boat ride.

You also see the Lion of Bavaria, carved into the rock in memory of Bavarian soldiers, and then have free time in the old town’s lanes for lunch, shopping, a coffee or a gelato before the drive back to Athens.

It is a private tour, so you set the pace.
